We are Family

When people talk about what makes Saint Simeon’s special, the first thing you typically hear is, “It’s a family.” Here are a few members of our family.

tiffani henderson, assistant director of nursing, has been at Saint Simeon's for 20 years

What makes Saint Simeon’s a special place to work?

The residents and our standards of care. I think what sets us apart from other communities are our expectations of care and our customer service.

What is your favorite thing about working at Saint Simeon’s?

My co-workers. I love coming to work in a family-like atmosphere. The people I work with actually know me on a personal level. They know my birthday, they know my kids by name, and they know my favorite foods. I call them, “My Bonus Family.”

Do you have a favorite memory of an interaction with a resident, family member, or fellow employee?

Over my 20+ years at Saint Simeon’s, I have had several favorite memories, but one that sticks out was when I was on vacation and received a call that a particular resident was transitioning and that the family was asking for my presence. I came up to sit at the bedside with the resident’s husband until she passed. Her husband told me that’s what she wanted, so I obliged.

What makes Saint Simeon’s a special place to work?

Courtney Wallis, HR Assistant, has worked at Saint Simeon's for 6 years.

The atmosphere, the residents, and my co-workers. Healthcare work isn’t about a dollar sign; it’s about helping others.

Do you have a favorite memory or an interaction with a resident, family member, or fellow employee?

One particular resident spoke few words, but when she did, they always caught my attention. The conversations we had were always joyful. She had the most beautiful smile in her eyes. She loved spending time with her family and being taken outside. She always smiled when I brought her hot cocoa.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Saint Simeon’s?

The opportunity to help in different areas. There is always something to learn.

What is your Saint Simeon’s story?

I started December 2016 in Purchasing. In December 2020, I began assisting with Infection Control and got my CNA license. In November 2022, I accepted the position as HR Assistant.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Saint Simeon’s?

Teresa Reno, Director of Life Enrichment for Assisted Living, has worked at Saint Simeon's for over 25 years.

Always the residents. They make you feel so loved and appreciated, and what other job does that for you? They make me laugh, think, challenge me and occasionally make me cry, but I can’t imagine life without my extra family!

What makes Saint Simeon’s a special place to work?

My co-workers and the residents! Co-workers often offer to help out and like to get involved—they bring a great deal of joy to the residents (and vice versa). From dancing with residents, telling jokes, working puzzles, or just sitting and listening to a resident, the staff here really warm your heart. I love to catch staff in pictures doing special things, but am often not fast enough with the camera!

Do you have a favorite memory about an interaction with a resident, family member, or fellow employee?

Once many years ago, when I was working as a psych tech in the Memory Center, we had a group performing and I was dancing with several residents. When I started dancing with this one gentleman his wife came in and I signaled for her to come over and take my place. Once she started dancing she began to cry and afterward told me that her husband would never dance before and it was her first time dancing with him! It really sticks with me—that wonderful feeling of joy she had!
