Western Days History
For 29 years, donors have generously supported the mission of Saint Simeon’s through the Western Days annual fundraiser. This Western-themed event has grown from what was once simply a picnic for residents, family, and staff to something much more. In its first year, the Saint Simeon’s Auxiliary raised $20,000 to replace privacy curtains, bedspreads, and mini blinds in our Health Care Center.
Capital Projects funded range from memory center renovations to a new medical transport van to our beautiful warm, saltwater pool. Operational support helps maintain a highly trained and experienced nursing team, magnificently landscaped courtyards and grounds, our peacocks, aquariums, and more.
Western Days has grown from a couple hundred people gathered under a tent in the Saint Simeon’s parking lot to an event that draws over 700 people annually. In 2009, Western Days outgrew the Saint Simeon’s grounds and relocated to Central Park Hall at EXPO Square. In 2016, the event moved to the Cox Business Center. The pandemic required the event to go virtual in 2020 and 2021, but in 2022 we returned to the Cox Business Center. We are looking forward to another great event in 2025.
