For 21 years, donors have generously supported Saint Simeon’s through the Western Days annual fundraiser. Saint Simeon’s is excited to announce that Western Days 2017: Seasons of Change will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 at Cox Business Center in Tulsa.
Caron and Shawn Lawhorn, Event Chairs for Western Days 2017, are gearing up for this year’s event, with Lisa and Tom Schooley serving as Patron Chairs. Marcia and Ron MacLeod will serve as Auction Chairs. The event chairs, along with about 70 committee members, attended the dynamic Western Days Kickoff Party at The Restaurant at Gilcrease Museum on Tuesday, May 2.
Ellen C. and Donald B. Atkins have been selected as Honorary Chairs for Western Days 2017. Ellen C. and Donald B. Atkins are among the most long-standing, loyal, and committed supporters of Saint Simeon’s. Their first gift to Saint Simeon’s was given in 1973. They have consistently supported the efforts of Saint Simeon’s. Ellen’s late mother, Golden Etter Colley, was a Saint Simeon’s Resident in the early 1980’s.
Don Atkins is a Saint Simeon’s Trustee Emeritus. His leadership as a Trustee spans from 1988 - 2003 and includes some of Saint Simeon’s greatest strides: the creation and opening of the Memory Center and the early planning of the Dotson Family Assisted Living Center.
At Western Days 2017: Seasons of Change, the Pioneer Spirit Award will be presented to Saint Simeon’s Resident Anne Lee Evans. Anne supported her husband’s call to ministry and the many associated changes. Father Bob Evans and Anne, along with their four children, led several churches in Wisconsin and Oklahoma. Father Bob and Anne moved into Saint Simeon’s in 2009, and Bob passed away in 2013. Saint Simeon’s applauds Anne Evans for her pioneering spirit in seeing her husband through his call to ministry and many changes in life.
Western Days 2017: Seasons of Change hopes to build on past success featuring a marvelous Silent Auction, as well as the always animated Live Auction. The evening will feature the traditional General Store stocked with handmade items from Saint Simeon’s Residents and volunteers, and of course, a delicious dinner. Returning to Western Days this year will be the ever-popular Raffle Ticket drawing for a $2,500 shopping spree to Utica Square. Also returning is the MosCOWBOY Mule Raffle, a cocktail purchase that doubles as a raffle entry.
